Control4 Card Access InHome Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensor

Control4 Card Access InHome Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensor

Now you can add easy and accurate occupancy sensing to home automation projects with the Card Access Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensor (SBS10A).

Install the Occupancy Sensors in sofas, couches, cribs, children’s or parent’s beds.

Control4 Card Access InHome Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensor

Included with your Card Access Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensor:
  • (1) 27” x 2” Sensor with a stainless steel base plate and a 60” two-wire dry contact interface
  • The Card Access Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensor is manufactured with ‘medical-grade’ quality*, and will provide years of reliable performance.

Interfacing the Card Access Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensor into the Control4 automation system requires a two-wire, dry contact interface. This is most easily provided by using the Card Access Wireless Contact Switch. The Wireless Contact Switch operates on either two AA batteries or any 9-24V AC or DC power supply. Each Control4® Certified Wireless Contact Switch can connect up to two Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensors to the Control4 project.

Occupancy sensing is a great feature to add to the Control4®-automated home. Simple, accurate occupancy sensing for lighting scenes can make the home cooler and more ‘green’ for the homeowner.

The dealer’s challenge is installing this capability easily, invisibly and at a price reasonable for the homeowner that still gives good margins for the work

Using the new Card Access™ Chair Occupancy Sensor (COS10A) and the Card Access Sofa/Bed Occupancy Sensor (SBS10A) does all this and more.  Install the Occupancy Sensors in combination with the popular Card Access InHome™ Wireless Contact Switch (WCS10A) and the InHome™ Wireless Motion Sensor (WMS10).

High-Tech Parenting

There are lots of fun, creative ways parents can use Card Access Occupancy Sensors with children. The Bed Occupancy Sensor/Wireless Contact Switch combination lets you know if kids get to bed on time, get up in the night, and get out of bed in the morning. A wakeup scene can become a ‘get up now scene’ with a few, simple program changes. Monitor kids who sleepwalk or sneak out at night. If parents have a “romance scene” turned on, and a child gets out of bed, the system can immediately alert parents by turning off the romance scene.

During the daytime, the Chair Occupancy Sensor in combination with some audio zone and lighting scene programming can automate disciplinary “timeouts.” Parents can make sure kids “serve their full sentence” for bad behavior.

Smart Night Lights

Combine a Bed Occupancy Sensor, a Wireless Contact Switch and a Wireless Motion Sensor to ease different go-to-bed times in the home. If your significant other is already asleep in bed with the lights off, the Motion Sensor can bring the lights up just 10% so you can see your way to bed. When you crawl into bed, the Occupancy Sensor/Wireless Contact Switch combination just turns off the light.

Occupancy Sensing Programming Example

To demonstrate easy, accurate occupancy sensing, just create this simple program that provides the following capabilities:

  • Upon someone’s entry into the room, the lights come on.
  • While someone is seated on a monitored chair (or sofa) or walking around in the room, the lights stay on.
  • When no one is seated in a monitored chair and no motion is detected in the room, the lights turn off
