The McIntosh MT5 Precision Turntable is a complete turntable package that is more than the sum of its parts. Engineered to exacting McIntosh standards, each piece contributes to deliver a superb performance. The MT5 comes equipped with a high performance platter and motor drive assembly, precision tone arm and a Sumiko Amethyst cartridge, a next-gen high output moving magnet phono pickup. Topped off with a nude line-contact diamond, the stylus couldn't be more nimble. Reaching every nook and cranny of your record grooves and handling that information with the utmost grace, Amethyst competes favorably with similarly priced moving coil designs. It is shockingly quiet and thus as transparent as can be, skillfully tracing even the most complicated passages your record collection has to offer. Expect effortless dynamic handling, depth and clarity over a black background, impeccably realistic transience, and images that leap from your soundstage but remain naturally positioned.
WATCH: Unboxing and Setting Up the McIntosh MT5 Precision Turntable
While maintaining complementary McIntosh styling, the MT5 takes full advantage of the chassis materials used to suppress noise, resonance and coloration so the only sound produced is that which is on your records. A clear, form-fitting dust cover is included to protect the MT5's moving parts, along with your valued records. The MT5 turntable is compatible with any McIntosh stereo preamplifier or phono preamplifier and is a great piece to complete your two-channel stereo system.

Caring for your Speakers and Amplifiers
To Keep your equipment safe these are some best practices to note. Please be advised that this is only to reduce the risk of misuse and is not an exhaustive list.
Speakers
- Speaker terminals are marked red and black, ensure your amplifier to the speakers are wired on the same colours
- Ensure no loose speaker wire from the red touches a loose wire from the black as this will lead to a short circuit and damage either the speaker, the amplifier or both.
- Not all speakers are designed to play at max volume, kindly consider the pairing of your amplifier and speakers
- Speaker cabinets cannot be replaced please handle with care.
AV & Stereo Amplifiers
- If your amplifier has HDMI ports, ensure all devices are off before plugging in the HDMI cable
- Turn off the amplifier before swoping out or adding speaker cable
- Amplifiers generate heat, place them in a well ventilated space. if possible avoid having anything on top of the unit.
- adding a surge protector can assist with power dips which are likely to damage your devices. Isotek and Furman are industry standard.
- Dusty environments can sometimes lead to accumulation of dust in the electronic components that might affect heat regulation
