Onkyo P-80 Preamplifier
The Onkyo P-80 is a reference-grade stereo preamplifier designed to be the command centre of a high-end separates system. Featuring fully balanced XLR inputs and outputs, a high-resolution 192 kHz/24-bit DAC, both MM and MC phono stages, a USB DAC input, and Bluetooth aptX HD, the P-80 combines analogue purity with modern digital versatility. Pair it with the Onkyo M-80 Power Amplifier for a complete reference-level stereo system.
Key Features
- Fully balanced XLR inputs and outputs for maximum noise rejection and signal integrity
- 192 kHz/24-bit DAC (ES9018K2M) for high-resolution digital audio playback
- MM and MC phono stages — connect any turntable, moving-magnet or moving-coil cartridge
- USB DAC input — up to 384 kHz/32-bit PCM and DSD 11.2 MHz from a connected computer
- Bluetooth aptX HD for high-quality wireless streaming from smartphones and tablets
- Tone defeat / direct mode for a pure, unprocessed signal path
- 5 analogue RCA inputs plus 2 balanced XLR inputs for comprehensive source connectivity
- 2 x RCA pre-outputs and 1 x balanced XLR pre-output for flexible amplifier connection
- 12 V trigger output for automatic power-on of compatible power amplifiers
- Headphone amplifier with 6.35 mm output for private listening
- Remote control included for full system operation from your listening position
Reference-Grade Signal Path
The P-80's fully balanced architecture carries the signal from XLR input through to the balanced output stage with complete common-mode noise rejection at every stage. The ES9018K2M DAC chip — a reference-grade converter — handles digital sources with exceptional resolution and low jitter. A dedicated USB DAC input accepts PCM up to 384 kHz/32-bit and native DSD up to 11.2 MHz, making the P-80 a capable hub for a high-resolution computer audio system.
Complete Phono Flexibility
Both MM and MC phono stages are built in, with individually adjustable loading for MC cartridges. Whether you run a high-output MM cartridge or a low-output MC, the P-80 provides the correct gain and impedance matching for optimal performance from your turntable.

Caring for your Speakers and Amplifiers
To Keep your equipment safe these are some best practices to note. Please be advised that this is only to reduce the risk of misuse and is not an exhaustive list.
Speakers
- Speaker terminals are marked red and black, ensure your amplifier to the speakers are wired on the same colours
- Ensure no loose speaker wire from the red touches a loose wire from the black as this will lead to a short circuit and damage either the speaker, the amplifier or both.
- Not all speakers are designed to play at max volume, kindly consider the pairing of your amplifier and speakers
- Speaker cabinets cannot be replaced please handle with care.
AV & Stereo Amplifiers
- If your amplifier has HDMI ports, ensure all devices are off before plugging in the HDMI cable
- Turn off the amplifier before swoping out or adding speaker cable
- Amplifiers generate heat, place them in a well ventilated space. if possible avoid having anything on top of the unit.
- adding a surge protector can assist with power dips which are likely to damage your devices. Isotek and Furman are industry standard.
- Dusty environments can sometimes lead to accumulation of dust in the electronic components that might affect heat regulation
Shipping & Returns
- Free shipping on orders over R500 within the country.
- Standard delivery within 2–5 business days. Delays will be communicated. This might vary slightly depending on your location.
- Return items in original condition for a full refund. (unopened state)
