AudioQuest NRG Technology
The NRG-X3 incorporates several of AudioQuest's key power cable technologies:
Long-Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors
Long-Grain Copper offers superior performance to standard OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper by reducing distortion caused by grain boundaries. Traditional copper has many grain boundaries where the crystalline structure changes direction, creating impedance variations. LGC has far fewer grain boundaries, resulting in smoother signal transmission and reduced distortion.
Direction-Controlled Design
All AudioQuest AC cables feature direction-controlled conductors. During manufacturing, the conductors are controlled for the correct low-impedance direction, which reduces RF noise. The metal used in conductors has a non-symmetrical grain structure, and controlling the directionality ensures optimal performance. This attention to detail ensures that your components receive the cleanest possible AC power.
Semi-Solid Concentric Conductors
The semi-solid concentric conductor geometry optimizes current transfer while maintaining flexibility. This design reduces skin-effect distortion and ensures efficient power delivery across the full frequency spectrum.
Cold-Welded Terminations
Unlike soldered connections, cold-welded terminations create a superior mechanical and electrical connection without introducing thermal distortion. This results in lower resistance and better long-term reliability.
Performance Benefits
- Reduced Noise Floor: Direction-controlled conductors minimize RF contamination for quieter backgrounds
- Improved Dynamics: Clean power delivery allows components to perform at their full potential
- Enhanced Detail Retrieval: Lower distortion reveals subtle musical nuances
- Better Imaging: Cleaner power contributes to more precise soundstage presentation
- Consistent Performance: Cold-welded terminations ensure reliable long-term operation
- System-Wide Improvement: Benefits extend to all components in your audio/video system
Compatible Equipment
The NRG-X3 is ideal for powering a wide range of audio and video components with standard IEC C13 power inlets:
Audio Components
- Integrated amplifiers and power amplifiers (up to 10A draw)
- AV receivers and surround sound processors
- CD players and SACD players
- Digital-to-analog converters (DACs)
- Turntables and phono preamplifiers
- Network audio players and streamers
- Headphone amplifiers
Video Components
- Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD players
- Media servers and streaming devices
- Projectors (check current draw)
- Video processors and scalers
Professional Equipment
- Studio monitors (powered)
- Audio interfaces
- Mixing consoles
- Broadcast equipment
Note: The IEC C13 connector is the standard 3-prong inlet found on most consumer and professional audio/video equipment. Verify your component's power inlet type before ordering.
Why Power Cables Matter
Many audio enthusiasts underestimate the importance of AC power quality. The power cable is the first link in your component's signal chain, and any noise or distortion introduced at this stage affects everything downstream. Common AC power issues include:
- RF Interference: Wireless devices, cell phones, and Wi-Fi routers can contaminate AC power
- Line Noise: Switching power supplies and appliances create high-frequency noise
- Poor Connections: Standard power cables often have inferior terminations that increase resistance
- Conductor Quality: Generic cables use lower-grade copper with more grain boundaries
The NRG-X3 addresses all these issues through superior materials, optimized design, and precision manufacturing. The result is measurably cleaner power delivery that allows your components to perform at their best.
Installation & Setup
Installing the NRG-X3 is straightforward:
- Ensure your component is powered off before connecting
- Note the directional arrow on the cable jacket - this should point toward your component
- Connect the IEC C13 end to your component's power inlet
- Connect the EU Schuko plug to your wall outlet or power conditioner
- Allow 24-48 hours of use for the cable to settle in and reach optimal performance
Tip: For best results, use AudioQuest NRG cables throughout your system for consistent power delivery to all components.

Caring for your Speakers and Amplifiers
To Keep your equipment safe these are some best practices to note. Please be advised that this is only to reduce the risk of misuse and is not an exhaustive list.
Speakers
- Speaker terminals are marked red and black, ensure your amplifier to the speakers are wired on the same colours
- Ensure no loose speaker wire from the red touches a loose wire from the black as this will lead to a short circuit and damage either the speaker, the amplifier or both.
- Not all speakers are designed to play at max volume, kindly consider the pairing of your amplifier and speakers
- Speaker cabinets cannot be replaced please handle with care.
AV & Stereo Amplifiers
- If your amplifier has HDMI ports, ensure all devices are off before plugging in the HDMI cable
- Turn off the amplifier before swoping out or adding speaker cable
- Amplifiers generate heat, place them in a well ventilated space. if possible avoid having anything on top of the unit.
- adding a surge protector can assist with power dips which are likely to damage your devices. Isotek and Furman are industry standard.
- Dusty environments can sometimes lead to accumulation of dust in the electronic components that might affect heat regulation
