pricing excludes lens & installation
Special Order Item. General ETA +/-4 weeks
The Barco Balder is a premium single-chip DLP 4K UHD laser projector, manufactured to perfection in Belgium from the highest quality materials including aluminium, magnesium, and glass. Sharing the same Ultra HD and HDR-compatible Pulse electronics and optical design as the flagship Loki platform, Balder delivers extraordinary image quality with the added advantage of liquid cooling for silent, 360° free-rotation operation.
Professional-Grade Optics
Balder’s optical engine is based on its bigger brother Loki’s architecture, featuring custom-designed aspherical glass elements and enhanced low-dispersion glass lenses. The aluminium and magnesium chassis and core provide exceptional robustness, resulting in the best picture quality ever achieved at this level.
State-of-the-Art Pulse Electronics
Barco’s Pulse electronics are built on a superior FPGA platform with a dual-core processor on the industry’s only 20nm SoC, featuring 96 transceiver lanes delivering 3.3 Tbps of serial bandwidth. Single Step Processing (SSP™) processes 4K UHD, HDMI™ 2.0a, HDCP 2.2, and HDR10 signals with extremely low latency — delivering exceptional gaming and movie viewing experiences.
Laser Light Source — Up to 60,000 Hours
Balder’s laser engine delivers up to 7,000 ANSI lumens (M colour wheel) with up to 60,000 hours of laser lifetime at lower intensities. Three interchangeable colour wheels — DCI P3, T (REC.709), and M (REC.709) — allow precise optimisation for cinema, broadcast, or home entertainment content. Lasers offer near-instant on/off, consistent image quality over their lifetime, and far greater robustness than traditional lamps.
Liquid Cooling for Silent, Free-Rotation Operation
Balder departs from conventional fan-based cooling, using a liquid cooling PID regulation system instead. Combined with Barco’s simulation-grade warp engine, this allows Balder to operate at any angle with full 360° free rotation — opening new possibilities for architectural and custom installation scenarios.
P7 RealColor™ & Flexible Installation
P7 RealColor™ processing enables simple, accurate calibration to any desired colour gamut and white point. With up to 88% vertical and 38% horizontal motorised lens shift, a comprehensive EN lens range (including periscope and ultra-short throw options), and native Crestron, Control4, RTI, and Savant driver modules, Balder adapts to virtually any installation geometry.

Caring for your Speakers and Amplifiers
To Keep your equipment safe these are some best practices to note. Please be advised that this is only to reduce the risk of misuse and is not an exhaustive list.
Speakers
- Speaker terminals are marked red and black, ensure your amplifier to the speakers are wired on the same colours
- Ensure no loose speaker wire from the red touches a loose wire from the black as this will lead to a short circuit and damage either the speaker, the amplifier or both.
- Not all speakers are designed to play at max volume, kindly consider the pairing of your amplifier and speakers
- Speaker cabinets cannot be replaced please handle with care.
AV & Stereo Amplifiers
- If your amplifier has HDMI ports, ensure all devices are off before plugging in the HDMI cable
- Turn off the amplifier before swoping out or adding speaker cable
- Amplifiers generate heat, place them in a well ventilated space. if possible avoid having anything on top of the unit.
- adding a surge protector can assist with power dips which are likely to damage your devices. Isotek and Furman are industry standard.
- Dusty environments can sometimes lead to accumulation of dust in the electronic components that might affect heat regulation
Shipping & Returns
- Free shipping on orders over R500 within the country.
- Standard delivery within 2–5 business days. Delays will be communicated. This might vary slightly depending on your location.
- Return items in original condition for a full refund. (unopened state)
