Barco Balder CinemaScope — 4K Laser Projector | 2.37:1 Widescreen | Liquid Cooled | Made in Belgium
The Barco Balder CinemaScope is the ultimate widescreen home cinema projector, combining the Balder’s acclaimed laser engine, liquid cooling, and Belgian-manufactured aluminium and magnesium chassis with a dedicated 2.37:1 CinemaScope aspect ratio. Delivering up to 5,600 ANSI lumens across a native 5,120 × 2,160 pixel image, Balder CinemaScope fills a true widescreen canvas with extraordinary precision, colour fidelity, and cinematic impact.
True CinemaScope — 2.37:1 Aspect Ratio
Barco’s unique aspect ratio detection system automatically crops and scales content to fit the appropriate screen area, ranging from 1.78:1 to 2.39:1. Manual cropping is also available for custom configurations — including CinemaScope subtitle support, where only the top black bar is removed from non-1.78:1 content, preserving subtitles at the foot of the image.
Professional-Grade Optics
Balder CinemaScope’s optical engine is based on the Loki CinemaScope’s architecture, incorporating custom-designed aspherical glass elements and enhanced low-dispersion glass lenses. The aluminium and magnesium chassis and core provide exceptional robustness, delivering the best picture quality ever achieved at this level.
State-of-the-Art Pulse Electronics
Barco’s Pulse electronics with Single Step Processing (SSP™) process 4K UHD, HDMI™ 2.0a, HDCP 2.2, and HDR10 signals with extremely low latency. The latest 0.9″ DMD DLP chipset delivers flawless 5K UHD (5,120 × 2,160) images at a 2.37:1 aspect ratio.
Laser Light Source — Up to 60,000 Hours
Three interchangeable colour wheels — DCI P3, T (REC.709), and M (REC.709) — allow precise optimisation for cinema, broadcast, or home entertainment content, with up to 5,600 ANSI lumens (M wheel) and a laser lifetime of 20,000–60,000 hours (intensity dependent).
Liquid Cooling for Silent, Free-Rotation Operation
Balder CinemaScope uses a liquid cooling PID regulation system instead of conventional fans. Combined with Barco’s simulation-grade warp engine, this allows 360° free rotation — opening new possibilities for architectural and custom installation scenarios.

Caring for your Speakers and Amplifiers
To Keep your equipment safe these are some best practices to note. Please be advised that this is only to reduce the risk of misuse and is not an exhaustive list.
Speakers
- Speaker terminals are marked red and black, ensure your amplifier to the speakers are wired on the same colours
- Ensure no loose speaker wire from the red touches a loose wire from the black as this will lead to a short circuit and damage either the speaker, the amplifier or both.
- Not all speakers are designed to play at max volume, kindly consider the pairing of your amplifier and speakers
- Speaker cabinets cannot be replaced please handle with care.
AV & Stereo Amplifiers
- If your amplifier has HDMI ports, ensure all devices are off before plugging in the HDMI cable
- Turn off the amplifier before swoping out or adding speaker cable
- Amplifiers generate heat, place them in a well ventilated space. if possible avoid having anything on top of the unit.
- adding a surge protector can assist with power dips which are likely to damage your devices. Isotek and Furman are industry standard.
- Dusty environments can sometimes lead to accumulation of dust in the electronic components that might affect heat regulation
Shipping & Returns
- Free shipping on orders over R500 within the country.
- Standard delivery within 2–5 business days. Delays will be communicated. This might vary slightly depending on your location.
- Return items in original condition for a full refund. (unopened state)
