Ortofon MC Cadenza Mono Moving Coil Cartridge
The Ortofon MC Cadenza Mono is a dedicated mono moving coil phono cartridge, purpose-built for the playback of mono LPs and 78rpm records. Combining a Nude Shibata stylus on a boron cantilever with a specially configured mono generator, it delivers the full tonal richness, dynamics, and presence of mono recordings with exceptional accuracy and zero channel crosstalk. For the serious mono collector, the Cadenza Mono is the definitive choice.

Key Features
Dedicated Mono Generator
The MC Cadenza Mono is built around a specially configured mono generator that combines the signals from both lateral groove walls into a single mono output. This eliminates vertical modulation noise — a common source of distortion when playing mono records on a stereo cartridge — resulting in a quieter, more focused, and more tonally accurate reproduction of mono pressings.
Nude Shibata Stylus on Boron Cantilever
The Shibata stylus profile was originally developed for quadraphonic records and offers one of the most demanding line-contact geometries available. With a tip radius of 6/50 µm, it traces the finest groove modulations with exceptional accuracy. Mounted on a rigid, low-mass boron cantilever, transient response is immediate and precise, retrieving every nuance from mono pressings of any era.
6N Pure Copper Coil
Ultra-pure 6N (99.9999%) copper coil wire is wound to a low impedance of 5Ω, minimising resistive losses and thermal noise. The result is a clean, low-level signal that rewards a high-quality MC phono stage or step-up transformer with exceptional signal purity and dynamic range.
Optimised for Mono LP and 78rpm Playback
With a frequency response of 20–18,000Hz and a tracking force of 2.5g, the Cadenza Mono is optimised for the bandwidth and groove geometry of mono LPs. It is equally at home on early stereo pressings played in mono, delivering the full weight, presence, and tonal colour that these recordings were mastered to convey.
Caring for your Speakers and Amplifiers
To Keep your equipment safe these are some best practices to note. Please be advised that this is only to reduce the risk of misuse and is not an exhaustive list.
Speakers
- Speaker terminals are marked red and black, ensure your amplifier to the speakers are wired on the same colours
- Ensure no loose speaker wire from the red touches a loose wire from the black as this will lead to a short circuit and damage either the speaker, the amplifier or both.
- Not all speakers are designed to play at max volume, kindly consider the pairing of your amplifier and speakers
- Speaker cabinets cannot be replaced please handle with care.
AV & Stereo Amplifiers
- If your amplifier has HDMI ports, ensure all devices are off before plugging in the HDMI cable
- Turn off the amplifier before swoping out or adding speaker cable
- Amplifiers generate heat, place them in a well ventilated space. if possible avoid having anything on top of the unit.
- adding a surge protector can assist with power dips which are likely to damage your devices. Isotek and Furman are industry standard.
- Dusty environments can sometimes lead to accumulation of dust in the electronic components that might affect heat regulation
Shipping & Returns
- Free shipping on orders over R500 within the country.
- Standard delivery within 2–5 business days. Delays will be communicated. This might vary slightly depending on your location.
